CineReel · The Honest Page

Last updated: August 4, 2026

What's not supported.
Yet.

CineReel is young and moving fast. In the spirit of honesty, here's everything the official Plex apps do that CineReel doesn't do yet — so you know exactly what you're getting before you commit. If something on this list matters to you, it's probably already on our roadmap. This page shrinks with almost every release.

For everything CineReel does do, see the App Guide & Features.

The Player

Plays beautifully. Missing a few buttons.

No chapter skipping or scrub previews

No chapter jumps, and no preview thumbnails while you scrub the timeline.

No AirPlay, no Picture-in-Picture

Neither is available on iPhone, iPad, or Mac yet.

Audio/subtitle track selection, subtitle styling, auto-skip intros & credits, and delivery mode are all in — see the Free vs Pro breakdown.

Browsing & Your Library

Select. Play. That's the whole flow.

No detail pages

Selecting a title starts playing it — there's no page with the synopsis, cast, ratings, trailers, or "more like this."

Search has limits

Very large libraries may not be fully searchable until CineReel has loaded them; the official apps search the server directly.

No playlists

Watchlists and an Up Next queue are supported now — but there are no playlists yet, video or music.

Huge libraries load slowly the first time

CineReel fetches whole libraries up front rather than page by page.

Filtering, Smart Collections, custom Home rows, and multiple servers with instant switching are all in too — see the Free vs Pro breakdown.

Music

Intentionally simple, for now.

Browse artists → albums → tracks, play an album straight through (multi-disc albums included), with a visualizer. Not yet: shuffle, repeat, queues, gapless playback, or playlists. If music is your main event, Plexamp still earns its keep.

Not Supported At All

And not currently planned.

Photo libraries

CineReel is about movies, shows, and music.

Live TV & DVR

No tuners, no guide, no recordings.

Still sounds like your kind of player?
